Resting a round
How to rest the next round, exactly when it takes effect, how long it lasts, and how to cancel it.
Asking to rest
On the board, find your name under Already checked in and tap Rest. Or ask the desk, and the organiser taps it for you. Your name shows as Resting in the list.
When it takes effect
A rest applies to the next round drawn, not the one in play. If you're on a court right now, finish your game. When the organiser draws the next round, you're on the resting list instead of a court. If the organiser already has a draft on the table and you're seated on it, your seat is given to someone resting and you join the resting list.
How long it lasts
One round. Once that round starts, your rest is used up and clears itself: you're back in the draw for the round after. To rest again, tap Rest again.
Cancelling it
Tap Un-rest any time before the round is started and the rest is cancelled; if you were resting on the draft and fairness says you should play before someone seated on it, you take their seat. Un-resting never changes a round already in play.
Why the draw rests you sometimes
With more players than court seats, some players rest each round whether they ask to or not. The draw picks them fairly: whoever has played the most games rests first, and nobody rests two rounds in a row unless there's no one else. A 2nd tag beside a name on the resting list means the draw had to break that rule for them.
